Warsaw: Incorporating migrants and refugees to the European labour reality

MR VarsoviaEuropean Meeting Centre – Nowy Staw Foundation had a pleasant opportunity to organize a seminar ’Integrating of migrants and refugees in the labour market - the role of workers' organisations’ which took place in Warsaw between 18th and 19th October within the activities of The European Centre for Workers’ Questions (EZA). The participants of the seminar, including representatives of the Presidium and the Council of EZA who honoured us with their presence, discussed the topic of incorporating migrants and refugees to the European labour reality. Apart from that, we also considered the role of workers’ organisations in facilitating this process for migrants.

During the deliberations all the invited guests had an opportunity to get to know the phenomenon of migration, both in global and local scale, familiarize themselves with its conditionings and character in the chosen EU countries and define the problems that may result in connection with this situation.

In view of actual migration crisis Europe and its leaders are facing a big challenge which can be solved with sharing good practices and knowledge necessary to search for the solutions together. We are happy that our seminar was such an exchange platform.

We want to thank all the seminar participants for their presence and engagement. We are grateful to all the speakers who shared their experience and priceless knowledge with us. We would also like to thank the representatives of International Platform for Cooperation and Migration (IPCM) for taking the floor in discussion panels. We would also like to express a particular gratitude to two institutions who was kind to host us during two study visits: “Our Choice” Foundation and the Warsaw Multicultural Center.

The seminar could take place thanks to the financial support of EU for which we are very grateful.
