Mario González Somoano was elected vice-treasurer of IPCM-PICM in November 2025. He was highly regarded for his commitment to the common good and social causes. Mario was a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Center for Workers' Affairs (CEAT) and also vice-president of the Pueblos con Futuro ('Villages with Future') Association, dedicated to helping immigrant families settle in rural areas of Spain.

Mario was a retired civil servant from the Provincial Council of Guadalajara (Castilla-La Mancha, Spain). He was spokesperson for the People's Party group, a provincial deputy, and Chief of Staff to the President from 2019 to 2023. Previously, he had also served as Chief of Staff to the Regional Government Delegation of Castilla-La Mancha and as a councilor in several towns in the province of Guadalajara.

Mario was buried on Saturday, April 25, in Arriondas (Asturias), in northern Spain. The IPCM sent flowers to the cemetery.

His sudden passing has deeply affected the members of the IPCM. Treasurer Ignacio Argote, who is also a member of the CEAT Board of Directors, expressed his profound sorrow. According to the IPCM president, "Mario's death is a significant loss, as he had recently joined our Board of Directors, bringing new energy and valuable human and professional qualities to the organization." From IPCM-PICM, we send our deepest condolences to his wife, son, family, and friends. We ask for your prayers for his soul. Rest in peace.
