IPCM works for erradicating poverty
On October 16, World Food Day is celebrated and on October 17, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is celebrated. The PICM/IPCM reiterates its desire to contribute to the development of the entire world and the well-being of people.
The United Nations has set these days to draw the attention of the international community. "Poverty has multiple aspects, some visible and others invisible, but all interrelated. This year's theme highlights one of the most difficult aspects of poverty to see: the social and institutional mistreatment suffered by people living in poverty" says the UN. The president of the PICM, Rafael R. Ponga, has indicated that "we have the moral commitment to continue contributing with our work to improving people's living conditions." There are PICM organizations, such as Feder Agri or Reformismo21 (formerly "Humanismo y Democracia"), that work on agricultural and social development projects.
