Lucca: Alfonso Luzzi (MCL): “We provide dignity to foreign workers”
The city of Lucca (Italy) has hosted an international European studies seminar, from September 16 to 18, 2024. It has been organized by MLC, EZA and PICM, with funding from the European Union.
The seminar had this title: "Create job opportunities in the real economy and guarantee the participation of workers." Representatives from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Austria and Montenegro met at the convent of San Cerbone.
The president of the MCL, Alfonso Luzzi, has said that "we provide dignity to foreign workers," because "the value of work is not only an economic value, but also one of social participation."
The mayor of Lucca, Mario Pardini, addressed a few words of greeting to the participants. He welcomed them to this historic city of great cultural tradition.
Piergiorgio Sciacqua has explained the evolution of unions in "democratic capitalism". Rafael R.Ponga spoke about the training of workers and the role of the University in collaboration with professional associations. Alessandro Mini explained the social doctrine of the Church and the role of the economist Giuseppe Toniolo. Carmen Quintanilla has pointed out that AFAMMER is the first association in the world dedicated to rural women. Francesco Seghezzi (Adapt) insisted on the importance of associations, unions and foundations in society. Vicenzo Conso (FAI CISL), Michele Cutolo (MCL), Thomas Sitar (Centrum), Vincenzo Massara (MCL) also took part.
