IPCM, CONCERNED ABOUT THE CRISIS, DEMANDS MORE MULTILINGUALISM
STATEMENT OF NAPLES
The Board of the INTERNATIONAL PLATFORM FOR COOPERATION AND MIGRATION (IPCM) wishes to express its commitment to continue working with social organizations for the welfare of people around the world. It will apply criteria and activities that promote human development.
Thus,
1. IPCM regrets that the current economic crisis is affecting so directly the lives of families in our countries.
2. It appeals to solidarity within the European Union, to find appropriate solutions for major economic figures and, above all, for the daily reality of people and families.
3. It is deeply concerned by the resurgence of xenophobic, totalitarian and undemocratic ideological approaches, that directly attack the model of coexistence in representative and parliamentary democracy.
4. It considers necessary to work in institutional strengthening as a key element for development, aware that the European institutions, as well as national, regional and local authorities in the EU, contribute to ensure the rights and freedoms of individuals.
5. It proposes to all academic authorities to promote actively multilingualism as language skills offer each person better prospects for educational, cultural and jobs development and help for better migration options and social integration.
