Rome: solidarity with the Afghan people and with refugees
Rome hosted the MCL National Study and Training Seminar, held from 9-11 September. The situation in Afghanistan and the problem of Afghan refugees were at the center of the work.
Piergiorgio Sciacqua, President of the General Council of MCL and Vice President of PICM-IPCM, reflected on the international community, from 9/11 to the current situation in Afghanistan. He expressed solidarity with the Afghan people. "Let's face the common good and social justice and respect for other countries of other cultures."
The participants heard the testimony of a young Afghan who lives in Rome. He received the support of the MCL. He referred specifically to the problem of minorities and women in Afghanistan.
Antonio di Matteo, president general of the MCL, said that the MCL is well aware of the situation of immigrants. MCL works with immigrants in Italy. MCL also has being working, for decades, with Italian emigrants in the world".
