In Cagliari (Italy) the IPCM has met to study the effects of the pandemic on immigration in Europe. Representatives from several European countries have attended. The Fondazione Luigi Clerici (FLC) organized the meeting, from June 16 to 18.
The seminar was titled "Work, Citizenship and Representation: Social Dialogue Issues in the Immigration Test in Times of COVID-19".
The president of FLC, Massimiliano Sabbadini, and the director, Paolo Cesana, welcomed.
The meeting served to learn about Sardinia's problems in terms of immigration and the pandemic. The representatives of various entities (Alessandra Zedda, Marco Santoru, Caterina Cocco) explained the current situation on the island.
The experiences of various countries in adapting to last year's crisis were also analyzed. The participants discussed the forms of support for immigrants in this situation.
Speakers Piergiorgio Sciacqua (MCL, Italy), EZA co-chair; Maria Reina Martin (FIDESTRA, Portugal), Vice President of IPCM; Rumen Valchev (Bulgaria); Ignacio Argote (CEAT, Spain), secretary of IPCM. On the other hand, Panagiotis Gkolfis (DAKE, Greece) and Rafael Rodriguez-Ponga (FCyL, UAO, Spain), president of IPCM, spoke online.
The Abat Oliba CEU University of Barcelona sent two representatives to the meeting: Alessandro Mini, Vice-Rector for International Relations; and Carmen Parra, director of the Chair of Solidarity Economy. The IPCM contributes to strengthening the relationship between social and academic entities.
