THE IPCM AT THE INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC MODEL AS A TOOL TO OVERCOME EMPLOYMENT MISMATCHES

ceat1The International Platform for Cooperation and Migration (IPCM) was a collaborating organisation at the International Seminar "The European economic model as a tool to overcome employment mismatches. Promoting a competitive and environmentally friendly economy". Held in Madrid on 14 to 16 November 2014, it was organised by the Spanish Centre for Workers Affairs (CEAT) and funded by the European Union and the European Centre for Workers' Questions (EZA).

Over the course of three days of sessions, attendees heard presentations on "Measures marked down in the 2020 strategy to stabilise employment", which was addressed by Veronica Lope Fontagné, MEP and patron of the Humanism and Democracy (H+D) Foundation; "Policies to boost impetus and competitiveness, and the role of workers in Small and Medium Enterprises", moderated by Josep Calvo Garcia, Treasurer of the IPCM and President of UCEM; and the round table "Workers' rights in labour reforms in the countries of southern Europe."

Saturday's presentation focussed on "European models for recouping youth employment", moderated by Maribel Alañón, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the IPCM and CEO of H & D. Then discussed was "Vocational training to combat youth unemployment and create sustainable jobs" with the round table entitled "European models to recover youth employment." The last theme tackled was a "Sociological view of young people, their relationship with youth guarantees and employment".

Following the working sessions, the resolution "Combatting youth unemployment and recouping employment was drafted and passed."
