Madrid: IPCM expresses its condolences on the death of Pope Francis

Representatives of the International Platform for Cooperation and Migration (IPCM) attended the Apostolic Nunciature in Madrid to sign the book of condolences for the passing of Pope Francis.

His Holiness Pope Francis passed away on April 21. On Saturday, April 26, his funeral demonstrated the global power of his words. A hundred heads of state and government gathered at the Vatican, as well as leaders of international organizations and heads of various religious denominations.

IPCM greatly values the preferential attention that Pope Francis has devoted to the social problems of our time. The encyclicals Laudato Si (2015) and Fratelli Tutti (2020) devote special attention to migrants, the poor, and the problems of today's world. The new encyclical Dilexit Nos (2024) reminds us that human and divine love must be at the centre of human activities.

The president of IPCM said: "Pope Francis has been able to guide us with his teachings and magisterium to interpret the problems of today's society from faith, hope, and, above all, charity." Rafael Rodríguez-Ponga added that he is "very grateful for his inspiration regarding migration and the need to resolve the world's poverties."

Pope Francis' message encourages IPCM, its organizations, and its members to continue working to understand and solve these problems. Without a doubt, Francis marks an era in the social commitment of the Church and Catholics.
